Rites and Reason Theatre presents:
A staged reading of The Forgetting Machine, by Emma Tai; directed by Connie Crawford; artistic direction by Elmo Terry-Morgan; with post-play Folkthought discussion.
The Forgetting Machine is a history of Hawaii as told through the ordeal of Grace Chang, a high school student, who has been chosen to deliver the 60th anniversary speech in remembrance of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the start of WWII. The play is a surreal odyssey set in three time periods: the late 1800s, the 1930s and post-9/11/2001.
