Our program, Justice Talks: Reflections on Civic Engagement was recognized recently by the Project on Civic Reflection. Justice Talks, a unique discussion series for all RI AmeriCorps volunteers and staff, uses literature to illuminate the meaning of service.

The Civic Reflection newsletter reported on our data, collected from the 2008 sessions:
  • 69% of respondents said that Justice Talks had improved their AmeriCorps experience.
  • 79% said that Justice Talks had improved their relationships with other AmeriCorps members.
Some comments from participants:
  • This program opened my eyes to the beliefs and values of others.
  • Justice Talks has reinforced by passion for public service.
  • It has made me put myself in the shoes of those I am serving and made me want to serve my community throughout my life.
